Fix Road®

FIX Road can be used for most transports, both on flat beds and in covered cargo spaces. When FIX Road is installed, the cover is hung under the roof of the cargo space on rails with bungee cords. Since the cover moves on the rails, it can be quickly and easily placed over the cargo. To allow loading via the side or roof, the cover can also be pulled to one end of the cargo space.

The cover is held down tightly with securing straps and ratchets, as normally. It is pulled over the whole cargo in such a way that its tension is always distributed evenly, even when the cargo consists of separate goods of differing shape and size. When the time comes to unload, the ratchets are released and the cover is pulled to the end of the trailer.

When the cover is not being used, it is automatically pulled up to the height under the roof, and the cargo space is immediately ready for new cargo.

On flat beds, FIX Road is used without a suspension, and the cover can be lifted over the cargo with e.g. a forklift. Afterwards, it is simple to pull the cover off the cargo, pull it to the side and fold it up, so that the inside of the cover does not get dirty. FIX Road can also be used in shorter parts.

FIX Road allows savings on both loading and unloading, since there is no need to throw straps over the cargo or roll them up afterwards. The cargo space, with the suspended cargo-securing cover, is always ready for loading, without any time-consuming preparations.

Our customers estimate that they save at least 30 minutes on each loading (semi-trailer), and at least 15 minutes on each unloading. First-class manufacturing and durable materials give FIX products a long lifespan (3-5 years), coupled with a short payback period. The significant time savings and long lifespan increases the efficiency of transport operations.

The FIX cargo-securing cover is well-suited to the securing of various kinds of goods (e.g. rolls, goods on a pallet, sacks and octabins). It is pulled over the whole cargo in such a way that its tension is distributed evenly, allowing for optimal lashing. The cargo is held together even if it is uneven and consists of multiple separate and different sized parts.

The cargo-securing cover is manufactured from soft but durable material that optimally adapts its shape according to the cargo, even in cold weather. The durable material protects the cargo from rain, dirt and UV rays, and ensures that the shipment remains undamaged. Corner protectors are unnecessary.

FIX Road is manufactured and tested according to the EN 12195-2 standard and meets all national requirements as well as all requirements of EU legislation, for the securing of cargo.

Calculations show that our FIX cargo-securing system does an excellent job of withstanding the force that cargo is exposed to in various forms of transport and on various routes. The lashing capacity (LC) for each anchor point on the cargo-securing cover is 2,500 daN. Extra straps at the ends also allow for straight lashing.

For a number of years, we have had our cargo-securing solutions certified for various types of cargo, and we serve our customers by performing customer-specific cargo-securing calculations.  If cargo is secured the right way, it is also possible to prevent accidents. According to the European Best Practice Guidelines for Cargo Securing, approximately 25% of trucking accidents may be due to inadequate securing of cargo. The German certification- and testing company DEKRA  has tested and approved the FIX cargo-securing system several times for the securing of beverages and paper, among other things.

FIX Road cargo-securing cover with sewed-in securing straps frees the driver from having to climb up onto the cargo, throw securing straps over it, or roll the straps up afterwards. The covering is light, weighing about 40 kg, and when suspended on the ceiling, it runs smoothly along the rails.

FIX Road’s durable and specially-woven material reduces the need to protect the cargo against surface pressure and weather and helps transport companies lessen their environmental impact. We have also measured out and manufactured the covers and securing straps so that they do not easily get dirty and never get stuck underneath the cargo.

These features help make FIX Road very durable and give it a longer lifespan than traditional securing straps. We recommend replacing the cover after 3-5 years, depending on the level of use. The covering allows for reliable securing of cargo without edge protectors or other single-use materials that would otherwise be used to protect the cargo. Damages to packing are also reduced, allowing for more efficient re-use of packing material.

It must be difficult to secure a cargo with a heavy cover?

In fact, the FIX Road fabric is suspended under the roof of the cargo space on tracks with bungee cords. Since the fabric moves and slides easily on its track system there is very little physical effort involved when positioning it over the target cargo. With FIX Road there is NO climbing up onto the trailer or over the load to secure it. The FIX Road fabric itself is lightweight – only around 40 kg but it’s the bungee system that carries it and not the operator so no worries there. Compared to other lashing procedures – it is fast and easy.

Why is FIX Road a more secure way for securing the cargo than straps?

With FIX Road, the fabric applies an evenly distributed lashing force over the entire contact area of the cargo even when the cargo consists of separate goods of differing shape and size. With its frictional and directional lashing abilities you can be confident that FIX Road will secure the cargo to the deck with a controlled and even lashing forces applied throughout the contact surface of the cargo.

Is it faster than securing the cargo with standard loose straps?

The fabric in FIX Road and FIX Truck-Safe allows savings on both loading and unloading, since there is no need to throw straps over the cargo or roll them up afterwards. The cargo space is always ready for loading, without any time-consuming preparations. Our customers estimate that they save at least 30 minutes on each loading (semi-trailer), and at least 15 minutes on each unloading. To collect loose straps after unloading can alone take up to 10 minutes. When not in use FIX systems just stow automatically to the roof and can be easily positioned to the front of the trailer and out of the way.

Covers can’t hold for long, it must be expensive to buy new ones all the time?

It takes a lot of space to have the cover inside the cargo space and how can you load the cargo with a cover in there?

When the time comes to unload, the ratchets are released, and its bungee system pulls it high up in the roof and clear of the cargo. The fabric can then be pulled to the end of the trailer and concertina stowed with a small footprint allowing clear access for unloading and re-loading. Space requirement under the roof is minimal.

Does it work with cargos with sharp edges?
